Several Counties and jurisdictions within the State of Maryland have additional protections under local fair housing laws.

These are listed and defined below:

Baltimore City

  • Age (18 yrs & over)
  • Ancestry
  • Gender Identity (defined as an individual�s having or being perceived as having a gender-related self-identity, self-image, appearance, expression, or behavior whether or not those gender-related characteristics differ from those associated with the individual�s assigned sex at birth)

Baltimore County

  • Age (see definition above)
  • Creed (defined as a person�s beliefs)

Harford County

  • Age (see definition above)
    Creed (see definition above)
    Occupation (defined as the principle lawful activity of one�s life and includes students, welfare recipients, and retired persons)
  • Personal Appearance
  • Political Opinion (pertains only to opinions related to political parties authorized to participate in primary elections in Maryland)

Howard County

  • Creed (see definition above)
  • Occupation (see definition above)
  • Personal Appearance
  • Political Opinion (pertains to all political parties, regardless of their participation in Maryland�s primary elections)
  • Source of Income (includes Section 8 vouchers, welfare and disability payments)

  • Presence of Children

Prince George�s County
